GURAM  KARAZANASHVILI  M.D., Sc.C., Sc.D.,

Chief of Urology Department and Founder of ltd MMT Hospital (www.mmt.ge), Clinical Professor of Tbilisi State Medical University, President of Georgian Association of Oncologic Urology. Born June 11, 1964 in Tbilisi, Georgia. He has taken his residency training program and postgraduate course at the Urology Department of Central Institute for Advanced Medical Studies, Moscow, Russia, in 1987-1991. Afterwards he defended his first dissertation in Moscow Regional Oncological Center. Consequently, he got a degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences (Sc.C.) by Supreme Attestation Committee of USSR, Moscow 1991. He defended his second dissertation in Tbilisi State University and he got the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences (Sc.D.) in 2002. He underwent numerous training programs in: Radboud Hospital, The Netherlands (1995); University Hospital Offenbach am Main, Germany (1996); University Hospital Malmö, Sweden (2000-2001); AKH, Vienna, Austria (2003); University Hospital Bonn, Germany (1997-8, 2005-2006); Vivantes Clinics, Berlin, Germany (2012). He gained numerous scholarships, grants and awards, such as: German Society of Urology (DGU) Clinical Scholarship, 1996; DAAD Scholarship, 1997; Best Poster Presentation Prize, PACIOU V, Rotterdam, 1998; Swedish Institute Research Scholarship, 2000; Austrian-American Foundation Scholarships in 1998 and 2003; Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Georg Forster Scholarship, 2005; Georgian National Award – for outstanding achievements on prostate Cancer research, 2011; National Scientific Foundation after Shota Rustavely Awards in 2014 and 2016.

 

He has established the new private Urology department in 2007. Consequently, the department has been transformed into MMT Hospital and is involved in residency training programs and student teaching process. He was a professor of Urology at Tbilisi State Medical University in 2005-2006. He became a Clinical professor of Tbilisi State Medical University and Full professor of University “Geomedi” in 2015.

 

He has established Georgian Association of Oncological Urology in January 2017 and he represents the first president of the association. In addition, he is a member of American and European Urological Associations.
